closing the gap between farm and table

Our story

Hello Everyone!  Thank you for taking the time to check out my website, learn about my cheeses and hear my story

I’m Amanda Kennedy, a 6th generation farmer who is committed to producing high quality milk and turning it in to quality artisan cheese!

Our Beginning...

Before opening Backroad Creamery, in October 2016, I spent years studying the art of cheese making.  Taking several cheese courses and learning techniques and backgrounds of different cheeses.  Many hours were, and still are, spent making different cheeses and perfecting recipes so I can provide you with the highest quality cheese.  We started out with curds, which are extremely popular, and have since expanded our inventory to include Cheddar and Feta cheeses with more varieties to come!

Our Creamery...

Backroad Creamery is tucked away in the eastern region of the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania.  Cheese and cows are my passion!  I milk a handful of purebred Holstein cows, backed by some of the breed’s best pedigrees.  My cows are also exhibited at different shows across the country, and their genetics are marketed via embryos and stud sales.  I am proud to say my cows receive the best care possible; they truly are the center of my business and part of my family!

Once again, thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me and my creamery.  Watch our website and Facebook page for updates on new cheeses, festivals we will be attending and where you can purchase our cheese.  Or you can send us a message, using the contact info on this site, with any questions or comments
